PARENT - TEACHER CONFERENCE

A parent-teacher conference will be scheduled in the Spring while the chldren are in school. Sign-up sheets will be posted so that you will have an opportunity to schedule a time to review your child's evaluation with the teacher.

These written evaluations completed for each child attending the Preschool will evaluate academic skills, social/emotional skills, large and small motor skills, and spaking and listening skills.

If a parent cannot attend the scheduled conference, other arrangements can be made with the classroom teacher to discuss their child's evaluation and progress. A phone conference is also an option.

Our teachers are always available by phone, email or in person at any time during the year to discuss any parental concerns regarding their child's participation in the program.

CLOTHING

Your child will feel more comfortable in moving around the classroom if he/she wears ordinary play clothes. It helps to have your child's' name in sweaters, hats, coats, boots and mittens. Cowboy boots, and patent leather shoes are contributors to accidents on muscle room equipment and are not advisable.

SNACKS

Included in your monthly fees is the cost of a snack of juice and graham crackers each day. If you wish to send cookies for the class, to celebrate your child's birthday or a special holiday, you may sign up on the volunteer snack list posted outside the classroom door. Snacks may consist of cookies, pretzels, popcorn, chips, cheese, raw fruit, vegetables, pudding, yogurt or J-ello. We ask that cake and cupcakes not be provided due to problems with clean-up and removal of stains from the carpeting.

OUTSIDE PLAY

As weather permits, we will take full advantage of our outdoor play yard. We have tricycles, climbing gyms, a water bench and a sand box with which the students can play. Please dress your child appropriately for the weather. Coats, jackets, sweaters and play shoes are suggested. There will be times when the weather is just chilly enough to warrant the children wearing their outer-wear.

VISITING

Parents are always welcome to visit their child's classroom. However, we suggest that you give your child an opportunity to adjust to the first few weeks of school before coming for a prolonged visit. This will provide all children an opportunity to adjust to their new environment and form a relationship with their teachers. If you are coming to visit and observe we ask that you leave siblings at home, please. Upon entering the premises, the parent or guardian shall notify the Administrator of his/her presence.

VOLUNTEERING

We often need volunteers to assist with a variety of activities in the classroom. One parent is needed to organize and post a list for each of our classroom parties during the year. At times, teachers may need someone to assist with special projects or to show children how to use the computer. If you are interested, your teacher can inform you of how you can participate.

PRESCHOOL BOARD

There is a Preschool Board that meets monthly, except for December and May, and last approximately 30 to 40 mintues. The Board is responsible for setting policies governing the Preschool and approving budget expenditures for the program. We are always looking for volunteers to serve on our Board.
